The Family Acid: New book of the photography of a psychedelic pioneer, reggae archivist, actor and anthologist
One of my favourite Instagram feeds is The Family Acid, run by Kate Steffens, daughter of reggae archivist, actor, anthologist, psychedelic pioneer and photographer Roger Steffens.
Steffens formalised his photography while serving in Psy-Ops in Vietnam. In January a new book, also called The Family Acid, will be published to reflect 40 years spent documenting the company of an “ever-revolving circle of friends and characters made up of Rastas, beatniks, musicians, artists, gonzo journalists and his family”, according to publisher S_U_N.
The Family Acid also contains texts by Kate and Devon Steffens as well as French musician/artist Bruno Blum (aka Doc Reggae) and Jack Martin, who illustrated Steffens’ 1969 anthology My Favourite Poets.
