Today David Thorp and I worked with the team at John Hansard Gallery on the first day of the installation of our forthcoming exhibition Eyes For Blowing Up Bridges: Joining the dots from the Situationist International to Malcolm McLaren.

JHG got off us to a flying start with construction, painting and preparation work completed  so that we were able to start shaping the show from materials sourced from private archives, collectors such as Derek Harris, the John McCready Archive at Liverpool John Moore’s University and the Malcolm McLaren Estate.

With original tracts, handbills, leaflets, pamphlets, posters and books from Alexander Trocchi, King Mob and the Situationist International, rare vinyl copies of William Burroughs’ LPs, screenings of such films as Guy Debord’s The Society Of The Spectacle and McLaren’s final works Shallow 1 – 21 and Paris Capital Of The 21st Century, as well as one of Burroughs’ ‘shotgun’ works and projections of Asger Jorn’s ‘defiguration’ paintings and McLaren’s 1969 student show, we are hoping Eyes For Blowing Up Bridges will provide a thought-provoking experience.
