Tomorrow (November 2) I am introducing a Malcolm McLaren film night at Southampton’s The Stage Door as part of the city’s Film Week.

The event coincides with the exhibition Eyes For Blowing Up Bridges at Southampton’s John Hansard Gallery, and will include a screening of a compilation of footage put together by the late cultural iconoclast in the 00s.

This has never been shown in public and includes rarely-seen excerpts from lectures and interviews as well as never-released-on-DVD video promos for tracks from his albums Duck Rock, Fans, Waltz Darling, House Of The Blue Danube (with the Bootzilla Orchestra) and Paris and such one-offs as the 2001 Virgin Airlines TV ad starring McLaren.

The night also features McLaren’s final work, the 2010 film installation Paris Capital Of the XXIst Century and the 1980 Sex Pistols mockumentary The Great Rock N Roll Swindle.

Click here to book tickets for Malcolm McLaren Night, which runs from 7pm to 11pm at The Stage Door, 78 West Marlands Rd, Southampton SO14 7FW.

Eyes For Blowing Up Bridges is on until November 14. Details here.
