“David Parkinson’s sensuous, gritty photographs challenge the viewer to conflate sex with advertising”
Maisie Skidmore, Another Magazine

Two breathtaking works by the late fashion photographer David Parkinson are being made available in a special limited edition to coincide with The Conformist, the exhibition currently staged at Mayfair’s Belmacz Gallery.

The Conformist, which is curated by the artist Paul Kindersley, features 10 works by Parkinson, who died aged 29 in 1975 and is a sorely overlooked figure in the development of fashion and street style photography in this country.

DP - James Cahill text 1

//From James Cahill’s leporello essay for The Conformist//

Parkinson’s extraordinary photography, which was based around unusual choices of designers, models, styling and locations, appeared mainly in the men’s magazine Club international, where he was fashion editor, as well as other adult titles such as Curious and Men Only.

Now Parkinson’s oeuvre is gathering a fresh and appreciative audience. As well as organising for the inclusion of his work in The Conformist, I have made a selection from his archive for the next issue of Mushpit magazine, which is out soon.

Enquiries about the limited edition prints should be made to sales@belmacz.com or by phone on + 44 (0)20 7629 7863.
