phcover

My essay on artist Derek Boshier’s engagement with popular music is in the new catalogue from Pallant House Gallery, home to the forthcoming show Derek Boshier: David Bowie And The Clash.

I have contributed a copy of the Boshier-designed Clash 2nd Songbook from my archive to the show.

The new catalogue also features an interview with Peter Blake (subject of this summer’s big PH exhibition) as well as Paul Weller’s memories of working with Blake on the Stanley Road cover, an appreciation of the late Royal Academician Adrian Berg with contributions from Tracey Emin and Paul Huxley and a peroration on the enduring appeal of record cover art by Dr Norman Shaw, co-curator of Prints Of Darkness.

I will be in conversation with Boshier about his work with David Bowie, The Clash, The Pretty Things and others at Pallant House from 6pm on Thursday June 28. Tickets available here.
