The joys of Letterheady

Ray Bradbury, date unknown.

According to Letterheady.com’s Shaun Usher, the adjective “letterheady” describes the feeling of being overcome by emotion at a strong letterhead design.

In celebration of the heyday of physical mail, the site runs the gamut in reproducing and archiving what we in the UK used to call “headed paper”: for rock stars, sci-fi novelists and dictators, silent movie studios, roofing firms and avant-garde art movements.

The Bowie letter posted the other day is less than representative, in that interest in epistolatory text is the preserve of another fine site, Letters Of Note.

As Usher writes: “Here at Letterheady we don’t care about the letter’s content, just its design.”
